Here it is! Digital Story!

Courtney and I completed our digital story together to tie into our character curriculum at school.  We read The Peace Book by Todd Parr and the students brainstormed what they think peace is.  Then, the students wrote independently what they think peace is.  We decided to use iMovie on the iPad to bring the digital story to life.  There were some difficulties because the version on the iPad doesn't show the full image.  This was very frustrating and Courtney and I were going to re-do it.  However, the students work is visible and you can clearly hear the students.  The students loved recording their voices and hearing themselves!  They were so proud of their work!  We liked it just the way it is!  Enjoy!

  1. Just a thought--can you save the video file in Dropbox and then download it on to a MacBook? The downloaded version might show the students' words. If this method works, you might be set. If the file is not large, you can also save it by using the Upload feature in Google Drive, and from there, you could download the file on to a MacBook to see if it contains the Words. Because we have PCs in the Lab and don't have wifi on site, though, you would have to try to get the file on your iPad into the Dropbox before class.

  2. I also found this tutorial of moving an imovie on an ipad to your computer going through iTunes. If you already have an iTunes account, you might want to try this. What you do have already is pretty good because we hear the students fine and see the drawings. From what I can tell, the process of transferring some kinds of files from the iPad to a computer is not always as easy as we might like, but if you can get the file stored in a cloud-based system (like iTunes), the transfer is possible. I think Apple will eventually make the transfer process easier, and maybe it is, but others have been having some difficulties, from what I have been told.

In any event, here is the link to the YouTube tutorial.

I really like your project. The theme and what the children are conveying are important messages.
